We're gonna be fine

I just had a sweet little memory- I remember the first night we brought Michael home. I was scared to DEATH- honestly I kept thinking I was going to be so tired I wouldn't wake up.  Or that a fire would happen and I'd forget he was in the bassinet next to me.  You know- all those crazy thoughts you have as a tired new mommy.  

Well- we went to bed, Michael woke up at 4 am to eat and again at 8 am, things seemed to be going well. After I had nursed him and was going to go back to sleep for a little bit, Phillip woke up and I'll never forget this: he turned to me and said, "See honey we made it through our first night, we're gonna be fine"  with tears in my eyes, I knew he was right.  

Wild Animal Park

Thanks to some friends of ours, we got tickets to the San Diego Wild Animal Park. Phillip got to take the day off so we could take Mikey to see all the animals.  It was a beautiful day- perfect San Diego Weather.  We started off at the gorilla exhibit, which Mikey thought was hysterical because the gorilla's were picking their noses.  So for the next 20 minutes all we heard was, "Dad- the monkeys pick their nose" followed by a laugh.  Michael kept asking to see the elephants, but we took him on the tram ride instead.  Sort of a mistake on our part :)  

The tram ride would have been perfect if it were around nap time- it's nice and slow and you see lots of "boring" animals eating. Michael didn't really care about anything but seeing the elephants.  

Finally we were off to the elephants exhibit- after a 16 mile hike up the hill we made it.  This was for sure the best part for Michael as you can see.  A baby elephant was born just two weeks earlier, so Mikey kept asking about the baby and his Mama.  He was fascinated with everything it did- it threw dirt on its back, walked around by the fence, played in the mud.  Michael dictated his every move- I think they could have been friends :)   We ate lunch, saw some tigers and some lions and then were off again to see the elephants.  I think Michael would have sat there all day watching them.  We said our goodbyes- got in the car- Daddy turned on Enya and within about 5 minutes Michael was dreaming of elephants.

Easter Memories

The Saturday before Easter we get together at Phillip's parents house with his extended family. We took along Mikey's tri-cycle because it's his new obsession. Our front driveway will never again be the same . I'm pretty sure he was doing about 35mph on that thing down the hill!  He had the time of his life, making Phillip truck his tri-cycle up the hill, then speeding back down and doing that over and over.  

And yes, that is a Disney Princess Girls Bicycle Helmet my son is wearing- I was NOT about to let my 2 year go flying down a hill laced with rocks on a flimsy little tri-cycle.  Call me paranoid- I'm proud of it!

That folks is the look of pure joy on the face of the happiest boy in the world :) 

Mornings

I love the mornings- especially Saturdays- Michael wakes up really excited because he knows Phillip's staying home.  His favorite thing is a sippy cup with milk and to run in our room and jump on the bed to wake up Phillip.  I usually go downstairs and make coffee while Michael proceeds to jump on Phillip's head, slap his chest and do every other obnoxious thing he can so that daddy wakes up.  This is a special ritual they share.  As much as Phillip complains about Michael cutting into his sleeping in time, deep down inside he loves it. 

This Saturday morning I made pancakes and bacon- their favorite. Somehow this has become tradition, and Michael doesn't follow far behind Phillip when it comes to traditions.  He loves them just as much.  Breakfast together is nice, then they start the toots & burbs slipping out while they both laugh hysterically.  Soon I know that little Samuel will join this fun filled breakfast tradition.  And as much as I roll my eyes, I know one day I'll miss it.  So I smile and ask them both- "what do you say" :)
